Dreadful 1st day of School

So school started last week and I had a little boy who DID NOT want to go. There was no end of excuses of why he should stay at home; he is smart enough, he doesn't want me alone, blah, blah, blah. I have to admit that I wasn't looking forward to my boy to begin another year of school but it has to be done. He cried for days and days and getting him ready for the first day was like pulling teeth, which we have yet to do :). When I dropped him off he got a big hug from his teacher, Mrs. McKee and off he went to play with Ally. Just like that he was happy about school! Whew!

As you can see from the pictures above, trying to get a seven year old to smile normal is nearly impossible. I think I was trying too hard for that perfect picture and Sam was trying so hard for me but his heart just wasn't in it and I gave up. It was just so hard for him to be excited about the day. Poor guy.

On the other end of the spectrum is Jade. He couldn't wait to go to school and ride the bus. He was so excited he could barely contain himself. All that morning he kept asking, "Is it time? Is it time?" Jade & I went to his parents house and walked him to the school bus. I was overwhelmed by emotions that he was going to kindergarten and that Summer & Rob wanted me to go with them to the bus stop. I can't express how honored I was that I got to spend that monumental moment with them. I will never forget it. I wonder what the bus drver thought when he seen two mom's crying like crazy over the same child. It was quite a sight, I'm sure.

Sam & Jade, I love you guys and I'm so proud of what big boys you are!
